SCTIMST is facing criticism for significant delays in patient care, extended waiting periods for surgeries, and last-minute appointment cancellations. MP Kodikkunnil Suresh has called for urgent resolution of these issues. A senior administrative official acknowledged the difficulties, stating the patient volume necessitates more facilities. Faculty shortages and high attrition rates, with doctors leaving for better opportunities, have worsened the situation, leading to waiting lists of six months to a year for cardiac surgeries and over four months for neuro surgeries.
