Chess legend Viswanathan Anand has taken over as the interim president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). This development comes after the current president, Arkady Dvorkovich, was included in the European Union's latest sanctions list. Dvorkovich has stepped aside from his presidential duties due to these sanctions.
