AI-Powered Cyberattacks Siphon ₹300 Crore From Smaller NBFCs

Economic Times - Tech · technology

Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting smaller Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) with sophisticated AI toolkits, leading to an estimated loss of ₹300 crore over the past two months. Approximately 150 complaints have been filed, with Chinese platforms like CyberStrike and Artex identified as perpetrators. These attacks exploit weak cybersecurity infrastructure, particularly in NBFCs with turnovers of ₹1,000 crore or less. The speed of these attacks has compressed from days to hours, prompting cybersecurity agencies to prioritize alerts on specific AI tools.
