A 26-year-old man in Bengaluru experienced a sudden cardiac arrest while visiting a hospital for an unrelated health issue. The patient, who has a rare congenital heart condition with a single functioning ventricle, was revived by doctors. Further tests revealed severe dysfunction of his heart chamber, necessitating the implantation of a specialised subcutaneous defibrillator. This device was chosen due to the patient's complex anatomy, avoiding the risks associated with conventional defibrillators that require leads inside the heart.
