The Kerala government has decided to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged irregularities in the acquisition of 4,896 acres of land in Kannur district for industrial projects through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). DIG Thomson Jose will lead the SIT, which will include officials from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau. A preliminary inquiry will precede the formal case registration. The probe follows concerns over procedural lapses, lack of cost-benefit analysis, and potential manipulations in land valuation for projects approved in 2018.
