Delhi Building Collapse: Illegal Construction Led To Tragedy, MCD Reveals

An MCD preliminary investigation into the Delhi building collapse revealed that illegal construction was underway on the second and third floors under the guise of repairs. The incident occurred when the shuttering of the new lintel on the third floor was hastily removed, causing it to collapse and bring down the entire building. The collapse has resulted in two deaths and five injuries, with rescue operations ongoing. The building owner had previously been warned about the dilapidated condition and instructed to undertake repairs under a structural engineer.
