Maryland Dairy Farm's Manure Lagoon Overflow Kills 11,000 Fish

Times of India · environment

A manure lagoon overflow at Kilby Farms in Maryland has resulted in the death of nearly 11,000 fish across 25 species in Basin Run. This incident, which came to light in early October 2026, is significantly worse than a similar event at the same farm in 2025. State officials noted that the dairy farm is already facing a lawsuit and a civil-contempt request due to alleged repeated violations of a 2025 settlement aimed at preventing pollution. The Maryland Department of the Environment is taking the issue very seriously.
