The US Department of Justice has stated that FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel will not serve as monitors during the November midterm elections. This decision comes amid concerns from civil rights groups that federal oversight could intimidate voters. In a court filing, the Justice Department clarified that while some federal employees will observe polling places, they will not act as law enforcement, carry firearms, or interfere with voting.
