Florida Pythons Removed, Thousands of Eggs Destroyed

Florida's python removal program successfully removed 177 Burmese pythons, weighing over 4 tons, from southwest Florida between November 2025 and April 2026. The Conservancy of Southwest Florida's team utilized radio-tagged male snakes to locate breeding females, leading to the destruction of more than 4,100 eggs. This season marked the largest biomass removal since the program began in 2013. The initiative aims to control the invasive species impacting the local ecosystem.
