Sitharaman Slams Congress For Using Banks As Personal Entities

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused the Congress and the previous UPA government of treating banks and financial institutions as personal entities, pressuring employees to bypass lending norms. She cited the alleged removal of SBI chairman R.K. Talwar in 1976 under Indira Gandhi's rule for resisting political pressure. Sitharaman stated that IDBI Bank was handed over in poor shape, burdened by bad loans to groups linked to Congress leaders. She added that the NDA government revived IDBI Bank through professionalism and recapitalisation.

वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने कांग्रेस और पिछली यूपीए सरकार पर बैंकों और वित्तीय संस्थानों को निजी संपत्ति की तरह इस्तेमाल करने का आरोप लगाया है। उन्होंने कहा कि कर्मचारियों पर लोन के नियमों को दरकिनार करने का दबाव डाला गया। उन्होंने 1976 में इंदिरा गांधी के शासनकाल में एसबीआई के तत्कालीन चेयरमैन आर.के. तलवार को कथित तौर पर राजनीतिक दबाव का विरोध करने पर हटाने का भी जिक्र किया। सीतारमण ने कहा कि आईडीबीआई बैंक को खराब हालत में सौंपा गया था, जिस पर कांग्रेस नेताओं से जुड़े समूहों को दिए गए खराब लोन का बोझ था। उन्होंने कहा कि एनडीए सरकार ने आईडीबीआई बैंक को व्यावसायिकता और पुन:पूंजीकरण के माध्यम से पुनर्जीवित किया।
