मेरठ जिला अदालत ने सौरभ की खौफनाक हत्या के लिए मुस्कान और साहिल को मौत की सज़ा सुनाई है। जिला जज अरविंद कुमार मिश्रा ने वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के ज़रिए अदालत से जेल तक सज़ा सुनाई। अभियोजन पक्ष ने दलील दी कि यह जुर्म पहले से सोचा समझा और बेहद बेरहमी से अंजाम दिया गया था, जिसमें लाश के टुकड़े-टुकड़े भी कर दिए गए थे। बचाव पक्ष ने उनकी कम उम्र और जेल में अच्छे बर्ताव का हवाला देते हुए कम सज़ा की अपील की थी, लेकिन अदालत ने आखिर में जुर्म की गंभीरता पर अभियोजन पक्ष का पक्ष लिया।
