Former National Board for Wildlife member Prerna Singh Bindra has urged the Kerala government to study and legally protect elephant corridors and movement paths. She emphasized the need to identify more such routes and decide on appropriate protection measures like declaring them protected reserves or eco-sensitive zones. Experts also highlighted that only a quarter of the elephant range is currently in protected areas, and many identified corridors are no longer functional due to habitat fragmentation.
