A new book, 'Mammals of India,' co-authored by A.J.T. Johnsingh and P.O. Nameer, has been published by Harper Collins India in collaboration with the Bombay Natural History Society. The book aims to be accessible to both wildlife researchers and general readers, detailing India's unique mammalian diversity. This diversity is shaped by India's geological history, including its separation from Africa and collision with Eurasia, which formed the Himalayas and influenced monsoon patterns.
