Centre Approves Classical Marathi Centre at Pune's Deccan College

The Centre has approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Marathi at Pune's Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the decision, calling it a matter of immense joy for Marathi speakers globally. The state government had been pursuing this proposal since Marathi was granted classical language status. Preparations for a detailed project report are underway, and the central government's approval clears the path for funding. Marathi was granted classical language status in October 2024.

केंद्र ने पुणे के डेक्कन कॉलेज पोस्टग्रेजुएट एंड रिसर्च इंस्टीट्यूट में शास्त्रीय मराठी अध्ययन के लिए एक उत्कृष्टता केंद्र की स्थापना को मंजूरी दे दी है। मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने इस फैसले की घोषणा करते हुए इसे दुनिया भर के मराठी भाषियों के लिए अत्यंत खुशी का विषय बताया। मराठी को शास्त्रीय भाषा का दर्जा मिलने के बाद से राज्य सरकार इस प्रस्ताव पर काम कर रही थी। विस्तृत परियोजना रिपोर्ट की तैयारी चल रही है, और केंद्र सरकार की मंजूरी से धन मिलने का रास्ता साफ हो गया है। मराठी को अक्टूबर 2024 में शास्त्रीय भाषा का दर्जा दिया गया था।
