Voters in Vijayawada are reportedly prioritising candidates and party symbols over the actual development of the city in the ongoing local body elections. Many voters, particularly from economically weaker sections, admitted to not knowing the names of the candidates contesting from their divisions, relying solely on symbols. A few residents cited personal gratitude towards a candidate for past assistance as a voting factor.
