Human Brain Tissue Grown in Mice for First Time
Times of India · science
Scientists have successfully grown functional human brain tissue inside living mice, a breakthrough that offers a new way to study human brain development and disorders. The human cells integrated into the mice's nervous systems, connecting to their spinal cord and brain pathways. This technique allows researchers to observe early fetal brain development in ways impossible with cell cultures or human patients. The hybrid model could accelerate understanding and drug development for conditions like autism, schizophrenia, and epilepsy, though ethical considerations and scientific limits remain.
