Two Women Honored With JungleBells Woman of the Wild Award

Two women, Smita Rajhans and Prajakta Hushangabadkar, were awarded the JungleBells Woman of the Wild 2026 award for their significant contributions to nature conservation. The ceremony, held during Wildlife Week in Pune, highlighted the possibility of human-wildlife coexistence through mutual sensitivity and caution. Rajhans, an Assistant Conservator of Forests, works on leopard-human conflict management, while biologist Hushangabadkar focuses on understanding and managing human-wildlife conflict. Both awardees presented their conservation work, emphasizing the increasing role of women in the field and the importance of community involvement.

स्मिता राजहंस और प्राजक्ता होशंगाबादकर नाम की दो महिलाओं को प्रकृति संरक्षण में उनके महत्वपूर्ण योगदान के लिए जंगल बेल्स वुमन ऑफ द वाइल्ड 2026 पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। पुणे में वन्यजीव सप्ताह के दौरान आयोजित समारोह में आपसी संवेदनशीलता और सावधानी से मानव-वन्यजीव सह-अस्तित्व की संभावना पर जोर दिया गया। राजहंस, जो वन संरक्षक (सहायक) हैं, तेंदुए-मानव संघर्ष प्रबंधन पर काम करती हैं, जबकि जीवविज्ञानी होशंगाबादकर मानव-वन्यजीव संघर्ष को समझने और प्रबंधित करने पर ध्यान केंद्रित करती हैं। दोनों पुरस्कार विजेताओं ने अपने संरक्षण कार्यों को प्रस्तुत किया, जिसमें इस क्षेत्र में महिलाओं की बढ़ती भूमिका और सामुदायिक भागीदारी के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला गया।
