Fed's John Williams Sees No Urgency for Rate

New York Fed President John Williams stated there is no immediate need for another interest rate hike, suggesting the Federal Reserve can wait for more data. He anticipates one further rate adjustment may be appropriate later this year to help return inflation to the 2% target. Williams expects inflation to end the year around 3.5% and moderate next year. Meanwhile, Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee cautioned against prolonged above-target inflation, warning it is like 'playing with fire'.
