Congress workers and leaders were detained and later released by police in Hubballi on Wednesday. They staged a road blockade at Ambedkar Circle to protest the detention of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Protesters raised slogans against the Union government, demanding Gandhi's immediate release. They alleged that the government was attempting to silence Gandhi because his concerns over electoral roll revision were proving true. Similar protests also occurred in Dharwad and on Tuesday.
