Business Standard · business
The Indian rupee experienced its largest gain in six months, strengthening by 1% to 95.7575 per dollar following strong intervention measures by the Reserve Bank of India. These steps, unveiled on Saturday, aim to bolster the currency after it approached a record low. Measures include a special window for oil companies' dollar needs and a reserve requirement on foreign-exchange derivatives. Despite recent interventions, the rupee has weakened 7% this year, making it one of Asia's worst performers.
