Rupee Hits Two-Month Low Amid Oil Price Surge

Economic Times Markets · stocks

The Indian rupee has fallen to a two-month low, breaching the 96 per dollar mark. This decline is attributed to rising oil prices, which have reached $107 per barrel for Brent crude due to concerns over Middle East energy supply disruptions. The escalating oil costs are impacting India's net energy-importing economy, also pressuring equities and bonds. Foreign investors have withdrawn $3.7 billion in September, further intensifying the pressure on the rupee.
