RBI Opens Special Dollar Window For Oil Firms As Rupee Weakens

The Reserve Bank of India has announced measures to support the rupee, which is near an all-time low. A special window will meet the dollar demand of three state-run oil marketing companies: IOC, HPCL, and BPCL. This facility, effective October 12, 2026, will allow the RBI to sell dollars to these companies through designated banks. The central bank also imposed restrictions on rebooking cancelled foreign exchange derivative contracts and reduced the threshold for derivative transactions without underlying exposure to $5 million.
