Canada's trade minister, Maninder Sidhu, stated that Fairfax's $5.5 billion investment in IDBI Bank signifies warming economic ties between Canada and India. This landmark deal in India's financial sector is expected to encourage further investments and supply chain cooperation. Sidhu highlighted that Canadian pension funds have already invested significantly in India, with investors keen to expand their presence. The minister also expressed optimism about concluding a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement by year-end, aiming to double bilateral trade to $70 billion by 2030.
