The University of Delhi's Centre for Distance and Online Education is facilitating financial support for a faculty member's child diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2. A committee of experts, including AIIMS doctors, was formed to expedite fund release for gene therapy, as the condition is not covered by the Central Government Health Scheme. While crowdfunding has raised approximately ₹1 crore, this is only a fraction of the total treatment cost. The initiative highlights collective action and institutional coordination to aid a family facing significant medical expenses.
