The Assam government has decided to take strict action against government employees who engage in polygamy. Under amendments to the Assam Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964, employees found to be married to more than one person will be immediately dismissed from service. Furthermore, they will be declared ineligible for any future government employment. असम सरकार ने बहुविवाह करने वाले सरकारी कर्मचारियों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई करने का फैसला किया है। असम सेवा (अनुशासन और अपील) नियम, 1964 में किए गए संशोधनों के तहत, एक से अधिक व्यक्ति से विवाहित पाए जाने वाले कर्मचारियों को तुरंत सेवा से बर्खास्त कर दिया जाएगा। इसके अलावा, उन्हें भविष्य में किसी भी सरकारी रोजगार के लिए अयोग्य घोषित कर दिया जाएगा। इस कदम का उद्देश्य राज्य के लोक सेवा क्षेत्र में सख्त आचरण नियमों को लागू करना और इसके कर्मचारियों के बीच नैतिक मानकों को बनाए रखना है।
