Cabinet Likely to Approve ₹25 Wheat MSP Hike to ₹2,610 for 2027-28

The Union Cabinet is reportedly set to approve a ₹25 per quintal increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for wheat, raising it to ₹2,610 per quintal for the 2027-28 rabi marketing year. This proposed hike follows a recommendation from the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP), which considered production costs and market trends. The current MSP for the 2026-27 marketing year stands at ₹2,585 per quintal. The government has also set a wheat production target of 121 million tonnes for the 2026-27 crop year.
