Father of Fibre Optics Narinder Singh Kapany Remembered on Birth Centenary

Moga town in Punjab will celebrate the birth centenary of physicist Narinder Singh Kapany, the father of fibre optics, with a two-day tribute. Kapany, born in Moga on October 31, 1926, coined the term 'fibre optics' and pioneered its modern applications. The event includes scientific sessions, science exhibitions for students, and the inauguration of the Kapany Memorial Gallery. A Dr Narinder Singh Kapany Young Innovator Award will also be presented, aiming to inspire future generations. Kapany was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2021.

फाइबर ऑप्टिक्स के जनक नरेंद्र सिंह कपानी को जयंती पर याद किया गया

पंजाब के मोगा शहर में भौतिक विज्ञानी नरेंद्र सिंह कपानी, जिन्हें फाइबर ऑप्टिक्स का जनक कहा जाता है, के जन्म शताब्दी वर्ष का दो दिवसीय आयोजन कर मनाया जाएगा। मोगा में 31 अक्टूबर 1926 को जन्मे कपानी ने 'फाइबर ऑप्टिक्स' शब्द गढ़ा था और इसके आधुनिक अनुप्रयोगों में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाई थी। इस आयोजन में वैज्ञानिक सत्र, छात्रों के लिए विज्ञान प्रदर्शनियां और कपानी मेमोरियल गैलरी का उद्घाटन शामिल है। डॉ. नरेंद्र सिंह कपानी यंग इनोवेटर अवार्ड भी दिया जाएगा, जिसका उद्देश्य भविष्य की पीढ़ियों को प्रेरित करना है। कपानी को मरणोपरांत 2021 में पद्म विभूषण से सम्मानित किया गया था।
