A rare 130-year-old copy of the Kelmscott Chaucer, published in 1896, has sold for ₹2.68 crore. Its exceptional value stems from its unique design and binding, featuring pigskin and intricate hand-crafted artistry known as 'Doves Bindery'. Inspired by German traditions, the binding includes detailed carvings of floral patterns and is secured by two metal clasps. Only 50 such copies were produced, making this particular edition highly sought after by collectors. The book also boasts 87 woodcut illustrations and decorative elements designed by William Morris.
