Takumi Hojo secured Japan's first gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, winning the men's individual triathlon. The 30-year-old athlete completed the race in 52 minutes and 56 seconds, narrowly defeating China's Zhang Xirui by nine seconds. This victory adds to Hojo's previous mixed relay gold from Hangzhou and qualifies him for the 2028 Olympics. Hojo expressed that his win provides a significant boost and momentum for the entire Japanese contingent.
