He clarified that the government has advised farmers to avoid water-intensive crops like paddy due to scarcity, recommending irrigated dry and integrated cropping instead. The minister highlighted that the government has been raising awareness about El Nino's impact for six months and is providing subsidized seeds for alternative crops. Officials are surveying drought-affected areas and scientists are offering updates to mitigate potential losses for farmers.

तेलंगाना के कृषि मंत्री तुम्माला नागेश्वर राव ने सरकार द्वारा घोषित फसल अवकाश के दावों का खंडन किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि विपक्षी दल गलत सूचना फैला रहे हैं। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि सरकार ने किसानों को पानी की कमी के कारण धान जैसी पानी की अधिक खपत वाली फसलों से बचने की सलाह दी है। इसके बजाय सिंचित शुष्क और एकीकृत फसल की सिफारिश की गई है। मंत्री ने बताया कि सरकार छह महीने से अल नीनो के प्रभाव के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ा रही है और वैकल्पिक फसलों के लिए रियायती बीज उपलब्ध करा रही है।
