Punjab Voter List Revision Sees Over 13 Lakh Names Deleted

Following a special intensive revision of electoral rolls, Punjab's final voter list has seen the deletion of over 13.6 lakh names. This revision has reduced the state's total voter count to approximately 2.01 crore from the previous 2.14 crore, marking a decrease of about 6.3%. During the verification process, 35.4 lakh electors were issued notices, with over 86,000 marked as ineligible. Despite these deletions, more than 7.9 lakh new voters were added to the final rolls.

विशेष गहन पुनरीक्षण के बाद, पंजाब की अंतिम मतदाता सूची से 13.6 लाख से ज़्यादा नाम हटा दिए गए हैं। इस पुनरीक्षण से राज्य में मतदाताओं की कुल संख्या घटकर लगभग 2.01 करोड़ रह गई है, जो पहले 2.14 करोड़ थी, यानी करीब 6.3% की कमी आई है। सत्यापन प्रक्रिया के दौरान, 35.4 लाख मतदाताओं को नोटिस जारी किए गए थे, जिनमें से 86,000 से ज़्यादा को अयोग्य पाया गया। इन नामों को हटाए जाने के बावजूद, अंतिम सूची में 7.9 लाख से ज़्यादा नए मतदाता जोड़े गए हैं।
