Food Labels Can Be Misleading, Read Labels Carefully

Times of India · lifestyle

Food labels like 'baked', 'natural', and 'low-fat' can be persuasive but often do not tell the whole story. 'Baked' describes the cooking method, not necessarily healthiness, as baked items can still be high in fat, salt, and refined flour. 'Natural' has specific FSSAI regulations in India, allowing its use for simple processing without artificial additives, but doesn't guarantee the final product is healthy. 'Low-fat' claims are defined but reducing fat may lead to increased sugar or refined starch content.
