Mysuru's Bombe Mane Returns With Traditional Doll Displays

The Hindu · india

Mysuru has welcomed back the Bombe Mane tradition, featuring elaborate doll arrangements that narrate heritage city tales and mythological stories during Dasara. A notable display curated by Hemalatha Kumaraswamy showcases nine-tiered platforms with dolls depicting the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and local Mysuru palace activities. The collection includes unique designs inspired by Wadiyar-era structures and characters like Shakunthala. Despite attracting visitors from across cities, Hemalatha notes a decline in the tradition as younger generations show less interest, leading some families to discontinue their displays.
