Diwali Celebrations in Pakistan Differ Significantly From India, Say Returnees

Aaj Tak · lifestyle

Individuals who have lived in Pakistan describe Diwali celebrations there as considerably more subdued compared to India. While the Hindu community observes the festival with prayers and diyas within their homes and communities, the widespread public enthusiasm, market decorations, and festive atmosphere seen in India are largely absent. Celebrations are easier in Hindu-majority areas like Sindh, but Hindus elsewhere face difficulties. Some individuals from other religions object to Diwali, forcing Hindus to celebrate discreetly.
