Kerala Hotels Halt UPI Payments Over New Merchant Charges
The Hindu · india
Several hotels in Kerala have stopped accepting UPI payments for transactions exceeding ₹2,000 due to new merchant discount rates (MDR) introduced by the NPCI. This decision comes as the NPCI has deferred the rollout of these charges until after Diwali. The move by the hotels aims to mitigate the additional costs associated with digital transactions. Customers will now need to find alternative payment methods for larger purchases at these establishments.
