Hindustan Times · india

The Madras High Court has ruled that citizens have an undeniable right to peacefully protest and question judicial decisions, refusing to issue a blanket ban on such demonstrations. However, the court directed authorities to deny permission for gatherings specifically targeting sitting judges. The bench emphasized a case-by-case assessment for protest permits under existing laws. It also mandated the Cyber Crime Division to monitor online content for criminal intimidation against judges, ensuring public spaces are not used to threaten judicial integrity.
