Nasscom Defends Indian IT Firms Amid US PERM Programme Freeze

Nasscom has stated that immigration and skilled talent mobility are distinct issues following the US government's temporary suspension of several major technology companies from filing new PERM applications. The industry body noted that Indian tech firms have reduced H-1B visa dependence, increased local hiring, and built a strong US workforce. Nasscom emphasized that these companies comply with local laws in over 80 countries and are confident they will adhere to US regulations. The suspension reportedly stems from multiple active federal investigations into firms like Cognizant, Infosys, and Wipro.
