Consumer court orders NHAI, contractor to pay ₹1

Krishnagiri consumer court has ordered the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and contractor M/s. Shiva Buildtech Private Limited to pay ₹1 lakh compensation and ₹15,000 litigation costs to a commuter. The court found them guilty of deficiency in service for failing to maintain the Krishnagiri-Hosur toll road. Shiva Buildtech was also fined ₹1 crore in punitive damages for poor road conditions, including potholes and congestion, despite collecting over ₹919 crore in.
