The Karnataka High Court has affirmed that a 3-acre land parcel in Sonnappanahalli village, north Bengaluru, belongs to the Defence Ministry. This land, acquired by the government in 1943 during World War II, has been used by the Indian Air Force for decades. A division bench overturned a single judge's order that had favoured a private party's claim. The court emphasized that land integral to an operational airbase cannot be treated as ordinary private property, citing historical records and the Military Land Register as conclusive evidence of its defence purpose.

कर्नाटक हाई कोर्ट ने पक्का कर दिया है कि बेंगलुरु उत्तर के सोनप्पनाहल्ली गांव में 3 एकड़ ज़मीन रक्षा मंत्रालय की है। यह ज़मीन सरकार ने 1943 में World War II के दौरान अधिग्रहित की थी और भारतीय वायु सेना दशकों से इसका इस्तेमाल कर रही है। एक डिवीज़न बेंच ने सिंगल जज के उस आदेश को पलट दिया था जो एक प्राइवेट पार्टी के दावे के पक्ष में था। कोर्ट ने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि एक ऑपरेशनल एयरबेस के लिए ज़रूरी ज़मीन को आम निजी संपत्ति की तरह नहीं माना जा सकता, और ऐतिहासिक रिकॉर्ड्स और Military Land Register को इसके रक्षा उद्देश्य के पुख्ता सबूत के तौर पर पेश किया।
