Lumding-Badarpur Rail Section Fully Electrified, Boosting Northeast Connectivity

Salasar Techno Engineering Limited has completed the electrification of the Lumding-Badarpur hill section in Assam, a crucial Rs 170-crore project covering 172 route km. This marks the final stretch needed for the railway ministry to declare 100% railway electrification in Assam by September. The broad-gauge freight corridor connects the Barak Valley and surrounding regions with the rest of India, now enabling electric locomotives to replace diesel engines. The project involved significant engineering challenges, including building foundations and stringing lines through difficult terrain, and commissioning two traction sub-stations.

सलसर टेक्नो इंजीनियरिंग लिमिटेड ने असम में लुमडिंग-बदरपुर पहाड़ी सेक्शन का विद्युतीकरण पूरा कर लिया है। यह 170 करोड़ रुपये की एक महत्वपूर्ण परियोजना है, जिसमें 172 रूट किमी शामिल हैं। यह रेलवे मंत्रालय के लिए असम में सितंबर तक 100% रेल विद्युतीकरण घोषित करने के लिए आवश्यक अंतिम चरण है। ब्रॉड-गेज फ्रेट कॉरिडोर बराक घाटी और आसपास के क्षेत्रों को भारत के बाकी हिस्सों से जोड़ता है, जिससे अब डीजल इंजनों की जगह इलेक्ट्रिक लोकोमोटिव का इस्तेमाल हो सकेगा। इस परियोजना में कठिन इलाकों से होकर नींव बनाने और लाइनें बिछाने, और दो ट्रैक्शन सब-स्टेशनों को चालू करने जैसी महत्वपूर्ण इंजीनियरिंग चुनौतियाँ शामिल थीं।
