Karnataka Govt Won't Implement Drug Price Disclosure Mandate Till Next Hearing
Times of India · india
The Karnataka government has assured the high court that it will not implement a circular mandating hospitals to disclose medicine procurement prices on patient bills from November 1. The court was informed that officials are reviewing the circular, which is being challenged by private hospitals and nursing homes. Petitioners argued the directive was issued without stakeholder consultation and statutory authority, potentially exposing confidential commercial arrangements and confusing patients. The hearing has been adjourned to a later date.
