Gujarat CID Acts Against Paper Parties After BBC

Following a BBC investigation into hundreds of crores in donations to 'paper parties', Gujarat's CID has filed an FIR. The probe revealed six small parties received ₹1,700 crore in 2023-24, exceeding the combined income of most national parties. Charges under the Indian Penal Code relate to alleged fraud, including creating fake documents and submitting false contribution reports to the Election Commission. This resulted in an estimated ₹343 crore loss to the government treasury. No arrests have been made yet as the investigation proceeds.

सैकड़ों करोड़ के चंदे वाली 'पेपर पार्टियों' की BBC की जांच के बाद, गुजरात की CID ने एक FIR दर्ज की है। जांच में पता चला कि छह छोटी पार्टियों को 2023-24 में ₹1,700 करोड़ मिले, जो कि ज़्यादातर राष्ट्रीय पार्टियों की कुल आय से ज़्यादा है। भारतीय दंड संहिता के तहत धोखाधड़ी, जिसमें जाली दस्तावेज़ बनाना और Election Commission को झूठी चंदा रिपोर्ट जमा करना शामिल है, के आरोप लगाए गए हैं। इससे सरकारी खजाने को ₹343 करोड़ का अनुमानित नुकसान हुआ। जांच अभी जारी है और अभी तक कोई गिरफ्तारी नहीं हुई है।
