India Develops First Indigenous Aviation Gun For Combat Helicopters

India is developing its first indigenous 20mm aviation gun and turret system for the Army and Air Force's Rudra and Prachand combat helicopters. The Defence Research and Development Organisation's ARDE has shortlisted domestic firms SSS Defence and Kalyani Group for the project, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. This development phase is expected to take approximately two years. The indigenous gun programme is part of broader efforts to increase domestic content in military platforms, including missiles and rockets.

भारत सेना और वायु सेना के रुद्र और प्रचंड लड़ाकू हेलीकॉप्टरों के लिए अपनी पहली स्वदेशी 20mm एविएशन गन और बुर्ज प्रणाली विकसित कर रहा है। रक्षा अनुसंधान और विकास संगठन (DRDO) की ARDE ने इस परियोजना के लिए घरेलू फर्मों SSS Defence और Kalyani Group को शॉर्टलिस्ट किया है, जिसका लक्ष्य विदेशी आपूर्तिकर्ताओं पर निर्भरता कम करना है। इस विकास चरण में लगभग दो साल लगने की उम्मीद है। स्वदेशी गन कार्यक्रम सैन्य प्लेटफार्मों, जिसमें मिसाइल और रॉकेट शामिल हैं, में घरेलू सामग्री बढ़ाने के व्यापक प्रयासों का हिस्सा है।
