Delhi Police Detain Nine Journalists Covering CEC Protests

At least nine journalists were detained by Delhi Police on Sunday while covering protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The detentions occurred for the second consecutive day. Among those detained were three journalists from The Indian Express Hindi, one reporter from Hindustan Times, two from Peek TV, and at least three from Malayalam news channels including Reporter TV, 24 News, and Asianet News. The Indian Express journalists were reportedly detained while reporting from Connaught Place and taken to Chhatrasal Stadium. This action raises concerns about press freedom during demonstrations.

रविवार को दिल्ली पुलिस ने मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार के विरोध प्रदर्शनों को कवर कर रहे कम से कम नौ पत्रकारों को हिरासत में ले लिया। यह हिरासत लगातार दूसरे दिन हुई। हिरासत में लिए गए लोगों में द इंडियन एक्सप्रेस हिंदी के तीन पत्रकार, हिंदुस्तान टाइम्स का एक रिपोर्टर, पीक टीवी के दो और रिपोर्टर टीवी, 24 न्यूज और एशियननेट न्यूज सहित मलयालम समाचार चैनलों के कम से कम तीन पत्रकार शामिल थे। खबर है कि द इंडियन एक्सप्रेस के पत्रकारों को कनॉट प्लेस से रिपोर्टिंग करते समय हिरासत में लिया गया और छत्रसाल स्टेडियम ले जाया गया। इस कार्रवाई से प्रदर्शनों के दौरान प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता को लेकर चिंताएं बढ़ गई हैं।
