Baby Orangutan Develops Fever At Odisha Zoo

One of five baby orangutans rescued and quarantined at Odisha's Nandankanan Zoological Park has developed a fever. The animal has been receiving medication since Sunday, September 13, 2026, with its temperature subsiding temporarily. Veterinarians are closely monitoring the orangutan, while the other four remain healthy. A five-member technical committee has been formed by the Odisha government to oversee the welfare and upkeep of these rescued animals, which are not native to India.
