Agarwalla stated that "politics has no place in sport" and questioned why the system does not respect young athletes, suggesting India missed a medal opportunity. He had previously challenged his non-selection for the games in the Delhi High Court, alleging unfair selection criteria interpretation. Despite the court upholding the EFI's process, Agarwalla maintains the system is opaque.
