Katra Ramlila to Integrate Folk and Martial Arts into Narrative

Times of India · interesting

Prayagraj's 12-day grand Ramlila by the Shri Katra Ramlila Committee will feature a unique blend of folk and martial arts woven directly into the narrative. Instead of separate performances, these traditions will enhance scenes of armies, celebrations, and gatherings, aiming to immerse audiences in India's rich folk heritage. An Akhada group from Sagar, MP, will portray Ram and Ravan's armies, while Chhau dancers from Ranchi, Jharkhand, will add theatrical movement. The folk tradition of Badhai from Sagar will be incorporated during celebratory moments, making the storytelling more lively and engaging.
