Supreme Court Asked to Stop CEC Gyanesh Kumar

A new petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the powers of the ECI. The plea questions whether Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar can unilaterally exercise powers constitutionally vested in the multi-member ECI. Social activist Rakesh Kumar Singh filed the petition seeking a 'quo warranto' writ to enforce a collective decision-making framework for the ECI. The petition argues that Article 324 of the Constitution grants oversight powers to the 'Commission', not a single CEC.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट से सीईसी ज्ञानेश कुमार को रोकने की मांग

सुप्रीम कोर्ट में ईसीआई की शक्तियों को चुनौती देने वाली एक नई याचिका दायर की गई है। इस याचिका में सवाल उठाया गया है कि क्या मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार, बहु-सदस्यीय ईसीआई को संवैधानिक रूप से मिली शक्तियों का एकतरफा इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं। सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता राकेश कुमार सिंह ने ईसीआई के लिए एक सामूहिक निर्णय-निर्माण ढांचे को लागू करने के लिए 'क्वॉ वॉरेंटो' रिट की मांग करते हुए याचिका दायर की है। याचिका में तर्क दिया गया है कि संविधान का अनुच्छेद 324, 'आयोग' को निगरानी शक्तियां प्रदान करता है, न कि किसी एक सीईसी को।
