Maduro and Wife May Face New Charges Over Torture of Americans

Federal prosecutors are expected to bring additional charges against former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores this week. The new accusations involve their alleged role in the torture of Americans held in Venezuelan prisons. US forces previously seized Maduro and Flores in January and brought them to New York to face charges for alleged weapon and drug offenses. Maduro's lawyer stated he had not been notified of any additional charges.
