Supreme Court Panel Mulls Safeguards For Marginalised Students

A Supreme Court-appointed National Task Force is considering specific safeguards for students from marginalised communities and those with disabilities in higher education. The 18-member body, which submitted an interim report in November 2025, is preparing its final report by October 31. The task force aims to include general well-being measures alongside specific protections for SC, ST, OBC, minority students, and those with disabilities, who are more vulnerable to campus discrimination. Their interim report highlighted widespread discrimination and weak grievance redressal mechanisms in institutions.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट द्वारा नियुक्त एक राष्ट्रीय कार्यबल उच्च शिक्षा में हाशिये पर रहने वाले समुदायों और दिव्यांग छात्रों के लिए विशिष्ट सुरक्षा उपायों पर विचार कर रहा है। 18-सदस्यीय निकाय, जिसने नवंबर 2025 में एक अंतरिम रिपोर्ट सौंपी थी, 31 अक्टूबर तक अपनी अंतिम रिपोर्ट तैयार कर रहा है। कार्यबल का लक्ष्य एससी, एसटी, ओबीसी, अल्पसंख्यक छात्रों और दिव्यांग छात्रों के लिए विशिष्ट सुरक्षा उपायों के साथ-साथ सामान्य कल्याण उपायों को शामिल करना है, जो परिसर में भेदभाव के प्रति अधिक संवेदनशील होते हैं। उनकी अंतरिम रिपोर्ट में संस्थानों में व्यापक भेदभाव और कमजोर शिकायत निवारण तंत्र पर प्रकाश डाला गया था।
